Silas Coggeshall is a first-generation college student and a second-year graduate candidate working towards a Master of Fine Arts degree. In his studio practice, Silas uses art making to explore autobiography, family history, and sexuality. His work is an exploration of a cis-male heterosexuality turned inwards. It attempts to break away from the tradition of male artists painting nude women, and subvert the male gaze found in much of art history.
